     With no end in sight for World War I, the United States instituted its third and final registration. It included all men who were between the ages of 18 and 21, and 31 to 45 years of age. This added younger men than the previous registration, those who were born between September 12, 1897 and September 12, 1900; and added an older group of men, born between September 12, 1873 and September 12, 1888. George Benjamin Hatheway filled out a draft card on 18 September 1918 at Ellington, Connecticut, The form shows that he was short in height, medium build, with blue eyes and dark grey hair.1 He resided on 18 September 1918 at RFD #1, Ellington, Connecticut, with his mother, Hannah Connolly Hatheway.1
     George Benjamin Hatheway married Mary Winford Mitchell, daughter of John Joseph Mitchell and Ellen M. Dawson, circa 1919.8,9,10,11
     George Benjamin Hatheway, age 37, appears in the census of 2 January 1920 in Ellington, Tolland, Connecticut, as the son of the head of the household, Hannah Hatheway, his mother. He also appeared with Mary Winford Mitchell and Charles Earl Hatheway.2 George Benjamin Hatheway and Mary Winford Mitchell resided on 2 January 1920 at Ellington, Connecticut, with George's mother, Hannah and his siter, Mary. Their son, Charles, was also living with them.2
     George Benjamin Hatheway, age 47, appears as head of household in the census of 24 April 1930 in Ellington, Tolland, Connecticut, with Mary Winford Mitchell, Charles Earl Hatheway and Ann Hatheway. Also enumerated with the family were George's mother, Hannah, his sister, Mary, and a boarder, Peter O'Callahan.3 George Benjamin Hatheway and Mary Winford Mitchell resided on 24 April 1930 at Ellington, Connecticut, with their son, Charles, and George's mother and sister.3 George Benjamin Hatheway was an honorary member of the Ellington Fire Department, a member of Ellington Grange, and a director of Tolland County Farm Bureau.12
     George Benjamin Hatheway, age 58, appears as head of household in the census of 2 April 1940 in Sand Hill, Ellington, Connecticut, with Mary Winford Mitchell, Charles Earl Hatheway and Ann Hatheway. George's sister, Mary C. Hatheway, age 55, was also enumerated with this family.4
     George Benjamin died on 24 April 1940 at home, Ellington, Connecticut, at age 57 George became ill in Florida two months before his death and was brought home about a month before his death.13 He was buried on 27 April 1940 at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Rockville, Connecticut.14
