           Ellen Dawson was born on 20 March 1876 at Annagh, County Westmeath, Ireland..7,8 She resided in March 1888 at Baylin, Ireland.9 She was an informant to the death of Ellen Cummins, her paternal grandmother on 30 March 1888 at Baylin, County Westmeath, Ireland; from old age and debility.10,11 Ellen Dawson resided in April 1894 at Moydrum, County Westmeath, Ireland.3
     Ellen Dawson married Thomas Franklin on 14 April 1894 at Athlone, County Westmeath, Ireland. They were married by Father John Greene. Witnesses were Joseph Daly and Catherine Robins.3
     Ellen Dawson, age 24 appears as head of household in the census of 1901 in 73 Military Road, St. Gregory Parish, Canterbury, Kent, England, with Thomas William Franklin and James Christopher Franklin. She resided with her two sons, Thomas and James. Her husband, Thomas, was probably on active duty since the census lists her status as married and not widowed.12 Ellen Dawson and Thomas Franklin resided at Rochester, Kent, England.13 When she moved from Ireland to England, she looked up at the moon one night and exclaimed, "We have a moon like that in Ireland". She was very tall and apparently one Saint Paddy's Day night, she drank too much. It took 6 policemen to carry her home.14
     Ellen's death was registered in the January-February-March of 1914 in the Medway registration district, England.15,16,17
