     Due to a need for men to serve during World War I, the United States instituted a draft. The first registration was for men between the ages of 21 and 31. As a result, this registration included men born between June 5, 1886 and June 5, 1896. Charles Henry Fehrs filled out a draft card on 5 June 1917 at Waterbury, Connecticut. It showed he was of medium height, stout build, with blue eyes and brown hair.12

Fehrs.16 Charles Henry Fehrs filled out a draft card in 1942 at Waterbury, Connecticut. The Fourth Registration, often referred to as the old man's registration, was conducted on 27 April 1942 and registered men who were born on or between 28 April 1877 and 16 February 1897-men who were between 45 and 64 years old-who were not already in the military..17 He and Margaret Anna Bergin resided in 1942 at 70 Rose Street.18
     Charles Henry Fehrs died in March 1970 at Waterbury, Connecticut, at age 82.19 He was buried in March 1970 at New St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterbury, Connecticut.2
