     In October 1894, the following article was published in the Waterbury Democrat:

          The funeral of Fenton Phelan took place at three o'clock yesterday afternoon with services in St. Patrick's church, conducted by Rev. J. H. Duggan and interment (sic) in St. Joseph's cemetery. The pall bearers were Martin Wall, James Wall, Patrick Gormley, Thomas Maher, John Phelan and William Perkinson.4
