     Andrew J. Healy was baptized on 27 August 1865 at St. Declan's Church, Ardmore, County Waterford, Ireland. He was baptized by Father Patrick Walshe and sponsors were James Healy and Margaret Kena (McKenna.)26
     Andrew J. Healy resided in August 1865 at Grallagh, County Waterford, Ireland.27 Records indicate that a variation of this name was spelled Healey.1,28,29,5,7,30,31,9 According to Kathleen Healey, he was referred as Big Andy and her own father (Andrew) was Little Andy.32
     Andrew immigrated on 18 May 1888, sailing on the S. S. Scythia from Queenstown, Ireland and Liverpool, England to New York, New York.1,33,34,5,7,35 He was employed by J. Binns Chemical Co. in 1892 at Waterbury, Connecticut. He was working there with this cousin, Bart Healey.36 He and Bartholomew J. Healy, cousins, resided in 1892 at 45 South Riverside, Waterbury, Connecticut,37 and was naturalized in 1893 at the United States.38,5 Andrew J. Healy was employed by J. Binns Chemical Co. in 1894 at Waterbury, Connecticut. J. Binns Chemical Co..28 He and Bartholomew J. Healy, cousins, resided in 1894 at Riverside Park, Waterbury, Connecticut.39 Andrew J.      Andrew J. Healy married Ellen Mary Hunt, daughter of Edward Hunt and Mary Lynch, on 25 September 1901 at St. Patrick's Church, Waterbury, Connecticut. They were joined in marriage by the Reverend Joseph M. Gleeson, Rector of St. Patrick's Church.48,3,5,49,50,51 Andrew J. Healy was employed by Waterbury Farrell Foundry and Maunufacturing Company in 1902 at Waterbury, Connecticut.52 He and Bartholomew J. Healy, cousins, resided in 1902 at 207 Washington Avenue, Waterbury, Connecticut.53
     Andrew J. Healy, age 43, appears as head of household in the census of 5 March 1910 in 113 Porter Street, Waterbury, Connecticut, with Ellen Mary Hunt, Mary E. Healy, Alice I. Healy, Edward F. Healey and Andrew J. Healy Jr. A boarder, John Rowey, was also enumerated with the Healey family.34 Andrew and Ellen resided at 113 Porter Street with their children Mary, Alice, Edward, and Andrew.34,54,55 Andrew J. Healy was a machinist for the Waterbury Farrell Foundry and Manufacturing Company.56,57
     Andrew J. Healy filled out a military census form 26 February 1917 Waterbury, Connecticut. The Connecticut “Military Census” was taken in 1917–1918 at the direction of the General Assembly with an eye to assessing manpower available for war and other resources in the state. The census included surveys on agriculture, factories, and even automobiles, but the forms included here are questionnaires filled out by men ages 16 and over. The census was much more than a simple name count, and these questionnaires asked for details in a number of areas: name, post office address, trade or profession, agemarital status, number of dependents, citizenship,military service, and physical disability.They also asked men to report on various skills, including whether they could ride a horse or drive a team, ride a motorcycle, operate a wireless, handle a steam engine or a boat, or swim well. This form showed that Andrew was 46 years old, measured at 5'11 and 1/2'' tall, and weighed 175 lbs. He was married and had 7 people depending on him for support. His occupation was described as a machinist. He knew how to ride a horse and handle a team of horses. He did not know how tot drive an automobile or motorcycle, understand telegraphy or operate electrical machinery among other things. He was a good swimmer.58 Andrew and Ellen resided at 5 Rye Street with their children: Mary, Alice, Edward, Andrew, Helen, and Theresa.59

Healy Jr., Theresa Margaret Healy, Ruth Francis Healy, Elizabeth J. Healy, Mary E. Healy, John A. Sweeney and Barbara Sweeney.8 Andrew J. Healy was a janitor in a public building in April 1940 at Waterbury.67 He and Ellen Mary Hunt resided in 1946 at 5 Rye Street, Waterbury, Connecticut. Their sons, Andrew and Edward, were also listed in the directory under this address.68
     Andrew was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Veterans Employees Association of Farrell Foundry.69 He had his left leg amputated due to gangrene in January 1950.70
     Andrew J. died on 16 February 1950 at Rye Street, Waterbury, Connecticut, at age 84 from arterio-sclerosis due to gangrene of the left leg and gangrene of the fingers.71
     Andrew's funeral was on 20 February 1950 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Waterbury, Connecticut, where a solemn high Mass was held at 9 o'clock.72 He was buried on 20 February 1950 at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury, Connecticut.73,74

Andrew J. Healey
The funeral of Andrew J. Healey, 5 Rye St., will be held at 8:15 a.m. Monday from the Mulville Funeral Home, 270 West Main St., to St. Francis Xavier Church for a solemn high Mass at 9 o'clock. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow and Sunday from 2 to 10 p.m. The Holy Name Society will meet at the funeral home Sunday at 8 p.m.
Mr. Healey died at his home last night after a long illness.
Born in Waterford County, Ireland, he has been a resident of Waterbury the past 62 years. He lived in the Brooklyn section before moving to the Washington Hill section. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Veterans Employes Association of Farrel Foundry where he was employed for 43 years until his retirement.
Surviving are his wife Ellen (Hunt) Healey; two sons, Edward F. and Andrew J. Jr., both of Waterbury; six daughters, Mrs. John Sweeney, Mrs. William Wallace, Mrs. Marvin Lawlor, all of Waterbury, Mrs. John Maher, Naugatuck, Mrs. George Gilbert of Hollywodd, Fla., and Mrs. Joseph Sullivan of Hollandale, Fla. and eight grandchildren.10
