Elsie Jeanette "Mimi" Morris, 95, formerly of Great Neck Road, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at Fountainview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Waterford.
Elsie was born Feb. 16, 1915, in Waterbury, the daughter of Terrence and Isabel (McCue) Hogan. She was the widow of George E. Morris.
She was raised in the "Jail Hill" section on Norwich. She attended St. Patrick School and Norwich Free Academy.
Elsie loved to tell about her jobs, her first was at a five and dime in Norwich. During World War II she worked at the Multiple Breaker Company in New London packaging C rations for the troops overseas. From there she moved on to the Garfield Belt Co., Beit Brothers Supermarket, First National, and her last job from which she retired was at the Smith Memorial Home.
She was a member of the Eagles Club Auxiliary, the Goshen Fire Dept. Auxiliary, Waterford Senior Citizens, and a communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, New London. Elsie loved life and her family and friends; she always had a smile and a good word for everyone.
She leaves behind her daughters, Dorothy Warren and her husband, Anthony, of Norwich, and Kathleen Doyle of Waterford; seven grandchildren, Debra Shriner, Becky MacLellan, Christine Lowney, Michele Clements, Michael Warren, Tammy Cazaresand, and Stephen Warren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Young; her great-granddaughter, Ashley Clements; her sister, Helen Dahlman; and brother, Terrence Hogan Jr.12
