The last will and testament of me Anthony Cook of Holker Parish of Cartmel and County of Lancaster Blacksmith being of sound and disposing mind, memory, and understanding.

First, at my decease I desire to be decently interred, and that all and singular my just debts, funeral and testamentary expences be duly paid and discharged; and,

Secondly, I give and bequeath unto my Son Thomas Cook, all my work Tools, Iron, and Stock in Trade, which may be in my work shop of Smithy at the time of my decease, and to my daughter, Elizabeth Rigg I give and bequeath Fifty Pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid her within 3 Calendar months after my decease, but should she die before, then the said Fifty Pounds are to be applied by my herein and named Executors for the benefit of her Children in the manner that they think best.

And to my dear Wife, Mary Cook I give and bequeath alll and Sundry my remaining Property, that is to say, my Goods, Moneys, Household Furniture etc of whatever description I may be possessed of at the time of my Decease, and should there, after my said Wife Mary Cook's decease, be any part of my said property remaining,

then I order and direct my Executors or the survivor of them to divide the remaining Property equally between my said children Thomas Cook and Elizabeth Rigg, or their lawful issue.

And I do hereby constitute and appoint my said Wife, Mary Cook, together with Richard Johnson Joiner, at Holker and William Rigg, Clerk at Flookburgh all in the said Parish of Cartmel Executors of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and annulling all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore made.

And my Will is, and I hereby direct that my said Executors shall each of them be answerable for his or her act and receipts only, and not the one of them for the other of them: and that they shall not be answerable for any unavoidable loss or miscarriage by and Security or Securities which may happen in my estate or Property And also that they shall be paid all their just costs, charges, damages and expenses out of the said proeprty and effects in them respectively vested in and by this Will and the Trusts herein contained.

In Witness thereof, I the said Anthony Cook have to this my Will and Testament set and subscribe my hand and Seal, the Seventh day of February in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty eight.

On the Seventeenth day of July in the Year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine this Will of Anthony Cook, late of Holker, in the parish of Cartmel, in the County of Lancaster, within the Archdeaconry of Richmond, in the diocese of Chester, Blacksmith who departed this life on or about the sixth day of June one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine, was proved in common Form, and manner, William Rigg, of Flookburgh in the Parish of Cartmel, in the County of Lancaster, and Richard Johnson of holker, in the said Parish, two of the Executors, therein named, were sworn well and faithfully to execute and (---) from the same, and so forth (Power being reserved for Mary Cook of Holker wife of the Executor in the said Will named, and so forth, and that according to the best of the knowledge, information, and belief of the said William Rigg and Richard Johnson, the whole of the goods, Chattles and Credits of which the said Testator Anthony Cook died possessed within the Archdeaconry of Richmond, and Diocese of Chester (exclusive of what the said testator might have been possessed of or entitled to as a Trustee, for any other Person, or Persons, and not beneficially, and without deducting any thing or account of the Debts due, and owing by and for the said Testator were under the value of four hundred pounds.
