"Prominent among the June nuptials was the marriage of Miss Helen Healy daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Healey of Rye street and J. Marvin Lawlor of South Main Street which took place this morning at 8 o'clock at St. Francis Xavier's Church. Rev. Charles Brennan, pastor of the church officiated at the ceremony and also celebrated the nuptial mass which followed.The bride had as her maid of honor and only attendant Miss Theresa Healey and Richard Lawlor acted as best man. Marcel Doucette, as soloist of the mass, rendered an "Ave Maria".
The bride was becomingly attired in a Princess model gown of white mousseline de soie styled with puffed sleeves to the elbow termintating in points over the wrist and she wore a large white hat of mousseline de soie and carried a shower bouquet of gardenias and lillies of the valley. The maid of honor's frock was a Patou model of peach bloom mousseline de soie with ruffled skirt and a cape banded with ruffles. Her picture hat was of peach lace straw and she carried a spray of spring flowers. The dress of the bride's mother was flowered chiffon with blue background and she wore a corsage of gardenias and the bridesgroom's mother wore an apricot lace gown styled with a jacket and wore a corsage of orchids.
Following the ceremony, a reception for about 35 guests was held at the Hotel Elton. Mr. Lawlor and his bride left on a wedding trip to Atlantic City and Washington, the bride wearing a yellow knitted traveling suit with corresponding accessories. Upon their return they will reside at 36 Arbor street.
The bride is a graduate of Wilby high School ands the bridegroom is a graduate of Crosby High School, LaSalle Military Academy, and Catholic University. He is a State Tax Investigator."3

     The following obituary was published in the Waterbury Democrat the day after her death:

          Mrs. Anna Hogan, widow of the late Thomas Hogan, died yesterday morning at the home of her son, Terrence Hogan of Norwich. She was a resident of this city for about 50 years and was very well and favorably known. Mrs. Hogan leaves four sons, Terrence of Norwich, Thomas, Patrick, and John of this city; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Byron, Mrs. Peter Connelly, and Mrs. Anna Graves of this city and Mrs. Arthur Anderson of New Britain and Mrs. George Dingwell of Litchfield; and 23 grandchildren. The body was brought to the Mulville Funeral home, 270 West Main street and will be taken to the home of Mrs. Mary Byron of 53 East Dover from where the funeral will be held Friday morning at 8:15 o'clock to St. Patrick's church where a solemn mass of requiem will be celebrated at 9 o'clock. Burial will be in new St. Joseph's cemetery.26

Elsie Jeanette "Mimi" Morris, 95, formerly of Great Neck Road, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at Fountainview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Waterford.
Elsie was born Feb. 16, 1915, in Waterbury, the daughter of Terrence and Isabel (McCue) Hogan. She was the widow of George E. Morris.
She was raised in the "Jail Hill" section on Norwich. She attended St. Patrick School and Norwich Free Academy.
Elsie loved to tell about her jobs, her first was at a five and dime in Norwich. During World War II she worked at the Multiple Breaker Company in New London packaging C rations for the troops overseas. From there she moved on to the Garfield Belt Co., Beit Brothers Supermarket, First National, and her last job from which she retired was at the Smith Memorial Home.
She was a member of the Eagles Club Auxiliary, the Goshen Fire Dept. Auxiliary, Waterford Senior Citizens, and a communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, New London. Elsie loved life and her family and friends; she always had a smile and a good word for everyone.
She leaves behind her daughters, Dorothy Warren and her husband, Anthony, of Norwich, and Kathleen Doyle of Waterford; seven grandchildren, Debra Shriner, Becky MacLellan, Christine Lowney, Michele Clements, Michael Warren, Tammy Cazaresand, and Stephen Warren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
